If you’re reading this, you probably use windows.

Well, it’s the most used operating system, so that makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is Microsoft’s new system requirements to upgrade to Windows 11.

If you don't know what I am talking about, Microsoft just unveiled the new version of Windows. It’s basically just a massive design revamp with some new features.

The end of support for Windows 10 is on October 14th, 2025. Unless your new laptop comes with Windows 11 (which won't happen until many months after this story), you can’t get a free upgrade, unless your PC meets the requirements. Here are 2 links to check the system requirements.

So, basically, if your PC doesn’t have 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of Storage, TPM Version 2.0, a DirectX 12 Graphics Card, and/or the compatible processor, you can’t run Windows 11.

I noticed that A LOT of relatively new processors were not included in the 2nd Link.

At the time of writing this story, if you buy a new PC that does not meet the requirements, you have about 4–5 years until the end of support. What I recommend doing is to check the specifications of the laptop you are considering buying.
